It’s that time again! My birthday is in a few weeks. Birthdays aren’t as exciting as I get older, but since Will and I have birthdays that are 2 days apart, we generally just celebrate each other with a swanky dinner and a day off from our jobs.  I do love a wishlist though, so here we go with 9 things I would not mind receiving for my birthday.

Today, I’m sharing a surprising email that I received from Universal Standard, a clothing company that has achieved more notoriety in recent time. They offer clothing in sizes 10-28, and the items are meant to be high-quality basics, in the best possible way.

From their website:

Polina Veksler and Alexandra Waldman started Universal Standard because size had become the dividing line determining who had the privilege and freedom to dress with quality and style.

That had to change, so they changed it.

Starting with the premise that clothes should look and feel good, they created a line of modern essentials, with a chic, downtown but classic aesthetic – giving women a new standard in style and experience.

The email they sent was dedicated to an explanation of their pricing and how it compares to pricing for similarly created items. Check it out below.

This is new and interesting! As someone who doesn’t buy tops that cost $200, it’s interesting to see this breakdown. The question that popped up for me immediately is to ask where these items are made. I checked on the website and didn’t find anything about where the items are made, which is a bit frustrating.

However, I don’t think I have ever seen such transparency in an email, and I opened it immediately. I have been on Universal Standard’s email list for a while and I am sure I will buy something from them eventually, and this email only helps me toward making a purchase.

Tweet me and let me know if you would be affected by an email of this nature!

Las Vegas Vow Renewal Details | 11-11-16

by Jamie Sanford on December 26, 2016

I’m finally posting photos of our 10th anniversary vow renewal! It’s been a month already! This post is dedicated to the details.

This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using these links.

These photos were made by me, taken with the Sony Alpha a550.

I am brewing a blog post about my forays into making, and earlier projects from the year made me believe that I could make this bouquet. While I was at it, I made the boutonniere for William.

Some of the flowers had dice in the center, some had rhinestones.

The bottom looked unfinished, so I was able to utilize some beautiful poker chips to dress it up.

These beautiful ears are the Liberace ears by Rock ‘n Roll Bride for Crown and Glory.

This champagne was great for photos but did NOT taste good at all. My sunglasses are from Amazon!

Our new rings are from Apples of Gold. We bought our original weddings bands from Apples of Gold 10 years ago!

I’ve had the belt for years and do not remember where it was purchased. The dress is an anomaly – after searching for months to find a dress that was what I wanted, I bought random dresses from Amazon and this was the perfect one.

One more post coming up – this one will be about our experience at the Little Church of the West.

Las Vegas Vow Renewal Portraits | 11-11-16

by Jamie Sanford on December 16, 2016

I’m finally posting photos of our 10th anniversary vow renewal! It’s been a month already! I’ll start with our portrait session images.

This post contains affiliate links, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using these links.

Photos by David FM Vaughn. Taken with the Sony Alpha a550.

I started preparations with a hair and makeup team from Makeup in the 702. I haven’t talked about it specifically on the blog, but I really love this blue hair. It feels totally right for me.

William, meanwhile, found the best jacket ever at Macy’s of all places.

We finished getting ready and posed for some portraits. My ears are from the Liberace kitty ears from the Rock n Roll Bride collection by Crown and Glory. I made my bouquet and Will’s boutonniere myself.

I love this one.

The casino at The Flamingo was a convenient backdrop for photos.

Posing outside. After searching for a dress for months, the one I liked the most was from Amazon.

The ones where we are clearly having fun are the best.

When the police car is just sitting there, you have to.

So many neon signs, so little time.

More from the ceremony and the details coming soon!

2016 Birthday Wishlist

by Jamie Sanford on December 2, 2016

Hello to my fellow December babies! My greatest wish is that your birthday isn’t overshadowed by other important dates in December.

I am lucky enough to have my birthday fall into the first week of the month, so I’ve never really had this issue. In addition, the general sense of not caring about birthdays hasn’t really been an issue for me, since my husband Will’s birthday is 2 days before mine. It’s a lot of fun when you get to celebrate with someone else every year.

Here’s my 2016 birthday wishlist!

This Erin Condren planner is really popular with some content creators that I follow, and my current planner isn’t really working for me, so I’m excited to try this one instead. $55 at Amazon.

While I love my Sony NEX-6, and the images it creates, it isn’t the best for selfie videos because it lacks a pop-up screen. This might seem silly, but this is a wishlist, so I would like this Sony Alpha a5100 to replace it. $548 at Amazon.

How can I resist a Stevie Nicks enamel pin? This is available for $10 from BlackDressWildHeart on Etsy.

Almost every one of my wishlists features a David Yurman topaz ring, because they are gorgeous. This one has diamonds as well, and is available for $1,750 at Neiman Marcus.

Still lusting after many of the Tom Ford lipsticks, but the Tom Ford Lips & Boys Color Cream in Cary will have to do. Available for $36 at Neiman Marcus.

This last one is no biggie, just a few days at Giraffe Manor in Kenya. I cannot think of anywhere that I wish to travel to more than Giraffe Manor. I fed a giraffe one time and it was one of the most magical things I have ever experienced, and they just hang out at Giraffe Manor! While I’m there, we can take a side trip to Mahali Mzuri for a fuller safari experience.

That’s all for now – if I’m feeling extra wishy, a holiday wishlist might be soon to follow.
