Antlers

Forest Fantasy | Living My Best Life

by Jamie Sanford on December 7, 2017

I have been brewing a blog post about making for some time now. I keep working on new projects that make me have more to say, and so it is very delayed. However, I had to do something about this project.

I have been thinking about making a headpiece for myself featuring large antlers for ages, and I finally managed to do so this past October. My Halloween plans did not work out, so I didn’t have a chance to go out in my costume, which is not so much a costume as me living my forest queen fantasy. I wanted to mark the occasion of this particular project, so I asked William to make some photos of me. Add this to the list of things I have done this year to actively try to live my best life. I know that the phrase is overused to death, but the concept is right. I am over being worried about what other people think about me, and so here I am in the woods.

The overwhelming feeling I had while doing this is that I had no idea what to do with my hands. How do models do this?

Will: “Pose like a statue!” Jamie: *does this*

I wish more of my purple hair was illuminated in this one.

The headpiece on my head is a mixture of faux flowers from Michael’s and 2 different kinds of plastic antlers that I found at Pier 1 Imports and then disassembled from their original locations, and painted to what I wanted them to look like. My dress is from eShakti.

“I’m going to stand behind this plant so my hands don’t look weird.” Look at the antlers though!! This is by far the most complicated thing that I have made, and I am super-proud of the result.

Go forth and live your best life. I know that your version of that probably won’t be wearing a giant headpiece in the woods, but you get the idea.

MyHabit Art Packaging | Brand Experience Project

by Jamie Sanford on June 16, 2015

Click here for all posts in the Brand Experience Project.

After not visiting MyHabit for a while, I went on the site back in April and found an AMAZING deal on a piece of art that involves antlers because the obsession is real.

I checked out the packaging when my item arrived.

I was a bit disappointed by the outside look of the box, only because I knew what was inside had a frame that was probably a bit fragile.

I am a HUGE fan of this giant sticker though! It is certainly large enough to have an impact, it’s telling me who the box is from, what the website address is, and has a very charming “warning.” I’m a pretty big believer in utilizing stickers to brand boxes that aren’t custom-printed. I am sure that MyHabit has a LOT of different-sized boxes to package the enormous variety of items that they offer, so stickers are probably the best way to accomplish creating an easily recognizable box.

Bubble wrapping around the main article. Not quite the same level of padding as the Flickr Wall Art, but still acceptable.

As with most art pieces, the corners are wrapped in pretty heavy-duty cardboard to prevent dents. Great wire for hanging on the back of this piece, by the way.

Of course, here’s a glimpse at the actual product. It’s now hanging over my desk at work. It arrived safe and sound, so no complaints from me about the quality of packaging.

If you haven’t already, you should sign up for MyHabit.  (This is not a sponsored post, I’m just a big fan.)

Instagram Roundup #25

by Jamie Sanford on January 30, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups! I am contemplating content other than this weekly Instagram post. Coming soon! I’m going to an accessory swap soon so I’ve been trying to wear all of the necklaces to see which ones I might part with. It will not be this one with antlers. I cannot resist jewelry with antlers. My current bedside lip balm is this Chapstick Botanical Medley. It smells delicious. We got a juicer. This was the second juice that came out, it was quite fruity and delicious. I need to start drinking the more unfortunate green juices with more kale and whatnot. This whole nail situation was not intended. It is OPI Ink, with Milani Hi-Res sponged on top, and then some OPI Servin’ Up Sparkle on top of that. I meant to only sponge the tips but it looked odd so I just went over the whole thing. I was going through an old InStyle and became more obsessed with this printed skirt from McQ. I wasn’t a very good bride even when I was in the midst of planning a wedding. However, I was really pissed that this Vera Wang for David’s Bridal dress wasn’t around when I got married. It’s beautiful. We had amazing heavy fog this morning, so I stopped in the little riverside park to take some photos on my way to the office. I wish I had taken my real camera with me, but I’m glad I stopped only to take phone pictures.

Wooden Moose Chair

by Jamie Sanford on September 6, 2010

I don’t know about a theme for this week, but I have bookmarked a lot of stuff with antlers, so maybe it will be antlers week!

How cool is that chair? It might need a cushion, but it is definitely a cool statement piece.

The Moose Chair is a cnc-cut, plywood chair. The upholstery show is canvas over high density foam and rubber for the back support. Since this is a new design, and can be produced on a small scale, please convo me if you are interested in custom colors or upholstery. Price listed reflects the color and upholstery shown. Price may increase due to changes or upgrades in material (Leather…for example).

The piece will ship flat-packed and disassembled. You will need a Phillips screwdriver to assemble.

Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery once final order has been established.

This is not a small buy, but it is a furniture and we give such items a break.  This awesome chair is available for $1,750 from Etsy seller Trevoroneil.
