Las Vegas Vow Renewal Recap

by Jamie Sanford on November 19, 2011

There’s been a lag in posting the last few days, it has been crazy with catching up after our trip to Las Vegas!

However, we had a blast so I’ll share some of the photos here with a little bit of story attached.  While our whole trip was fun, I will focus only on 11-11-11, our anniversary and the date of our vow renewal!  (Warning – photo heavy!)

Starting the day with mimosas at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.

Also, I had bananas foster crepes that were crazy.

Not my husband, but my BFF David. He and I walked around, I contemplated a tattoo, then I watched him play poker. Then went back to my room to wait for my hair and makeup crew from Makeup in the 702.

BAM! Those ladies are amazing. In just an hour they made me look super glamorous! I need them in my life all of the time.

David came back to take Will and I out to take some photos. All of my favorites are the ones where we are cracking up.

As always, I put sunglasses on my head and didn’t think about them again. Also, Will and I had to take our standard “at arm’s length” photo.

I love this one – chin be damned!

This one too.

We got to the hotel attached to the chapel and there was, naturally, a cosplay convention happening there. Totally perfect and amazing.

This is pre-renewal at the gazebo. Aren’t my flowers pretty?

This is our Elvis. He was fantastic.

Elvis sang “All Shook Up” as the opening to the ceremony. My dad danced me down the aisle. It was really fun.

None of the pictures show my dress too well because I was cold and wore my black velvet blazer the whole time. Oh well. Here we are with our parents after the ceremony.

Here you can see our new rings! Neither of us are replacing our original wedding rings, we now just have extras.

I ended up in a limo with 6 boys to go back to our hotel. I wish this was in focus, but you get the idea.

Tiny Edward made an appearance at dinner.

From last night during dinner...
This also happened at dinner.

So, you can probably see that it was nothing traditional, but very fun and frivolous. Everyone loved Elvis, and especially enjoyed that we picked “Suspicious Minds,” which is about thinking that your lover is cheating on you, in the middle of our ceremony. Mostly we just liked the song and didn’t want anything slow.

We’ve already been asked about another renewal in 5 years. …and I just found out that it falls on a Friday. This might be a repeating situation!

Las Vegas Vow Renewal: Photo Inspiration

by Jamie Sanford on November 8, 2011

Countdown to Las Vegas continues – now it is time to look at other people’s photos and use them as ideas to create our photos for the big vow renewal.  I am definitely planning a trip to the famous Las Vegas sign for some photos, but let’s get some concrete ideas down first.

Love this one from Kristen Joy Photography.

Also enjoying this one with the “Eiffel Tower” in the background, from The Knot.

Not so much a wedding photo, but this from msmail on Flickr is a pretty silhouette.

What iconic photos should we strive for while in Vegas? Leave suggestions in the comments!

Las Vegas Vow Renewal: Final Hair and Makeup Inspiration

by Jamie Sanford on November 7, 2011

Countdown to Las Vegas continues – and now I’m narrowing down my makeup and hair inspirations for the girls at Makeup in the 702.

I could NEVER achieve these perfect waves, so this Kate Beckinsale look might be my guide for the hair. By the way, my hair is totally redder now.

Kristen Stewart was serving Priscilla Presley realness in her W photoshoot, and I like the dark eyes a lot.  I might want this without the giant wing coming out of the side there, I’m not sure that it will work for me without looking silly.

Britney Spears also has some great eye makeup going on in her new “Criminal” video.  I’ve been a longtime fan of Britney’s smoky eyes and nude lip thing, so this is nothing too different.  I think I just need to figure out just how smoky I want my eye makeup to be.

Next up, photo inspiration and activity ideas for the Vegas trip!  Please leave your Las Vegas recommendations in the comments.

Las Vegas Vow Renewal: What I am definitely wearing.

by Jamie Sanford on November 7, 2011

The time is approaching – we leave for Las Vegas in just a few days!  I’m so excited that I’m making fun graphics for myself.

So, as discussed previously, I had a plan for what I was wearing.  I purchased a dress from a website called Starlets and Harlots (who don’t get a link because they suck), and weeks later I had heard nothing and received nothing.  I finally complained to PayPal, and managed to get a refund, but obviously, I was still pissed because they had the dress that I wanted.

So I started finding backup dresses in a hurry.  I have bought and returned multiple dresses in the past few weeks, and over the weekend, finally confirmed what I will be wearing.

This is the Monif C Marilyn Ruched Convertible Dress.  It’s currently on sale but that ends soon, so I’ll list the price as $215.

I don’t look like this model, but once my friend Tiffany had tied me into the dress over the weekend, I knew it was the winner.  I feel super fabulous in this dress, and that’s all I needed.

I need to get some fishnets (maybe these Spanx ones), but I am totally wearing my previously purchased Poetic Licence shoes!

These appear to be no longer available.  They are perfect for Vegas though, with the attributes of both dice and playing cards. They are perfect.

I also think it might be cold, so I will be bringing along a cardigan and my favorite black velvet blazer in case it is a bit chilly.

Coming soon, a post where I talk about my makeup options and revisit the hair question too.  Las Vegas, here we come!

What I’m Wearing (I hope): Las Vegas Vow Renewal

by Jamie Sanford on September 27, 2011

Since I finally ordered my dress for my upcoming vow renewal, I’m ready to share the intended outfit.

There will be Spanx too but we don’t need to get into that.

This dress was one I found a while back, and now it is on sale for $49.95 from Starlets & Harlots. It isn’t going to arrive for something like 3 weeks, and if it doesn’t fit, I’ll either be going to a backup dress or going into full panic mode.

I have to wear the crinoline underneath the dress to keep it poofy. This is on sale for $48.96 from Starlets & Harlots.

These are Spanx tights but they are polka-dotted! SPANX® Swiss dot sheers are available at Lane Bryant for $28.

Readers have seen these before! I couldn’t resist them for Las Vegas, the colors remind me of playing cards, and polka dots are like spots on the dice.  These Poetic License Apple Pie shoes are available for $78.40 from Zappos.  (I got lucky and got mine for $25 from ideeli!)

Now, how will I do my hair?  My hair is as long as it has been in ages, it is well past my shoulders.  Here are some thoughts I’m having about possible hairstyles.

I feel like this might take the dress too far towards Audrey Hepburn.

This is not as curly but has a definite retro vibe.

I could definitely rock some Amy Winehouse retro beehive realness.  Toned down a bit though.

As messy as this hair looks, I would still need professional help to achieve it.  This would take it to a more modern look, messy-on-purpose and all of that.

Then we come to the Nina Dobrev portion of the blog post.  I have saved multiple photos of her hair styled in some form of curls.  My hair isn’t this long, and the color is most like what she has going on in the middle there.  I feel like the middle style would be a good choice because the curls are quite defined, and I imagine that it will probably last the longest.  The one on the left is really loose and sexy but I worry that my hair goes wonky too quickly after I’ve paid to have it done.

Any thoughts? Leave a note in the comments!
