The Daily Wishlist

Sunday Link Party!

by Jamie Sanford on November 7, 2010

I really need to write other content. I have considered moving the Sunday Link Party over to The Daily Wishlist, because I write there so regularly, but I don’t know where it really fits.

Photo of the week, a picture of Alan Shepard‘s spacesuit that I took while at Kennedy Space Center in September.

Wider view of Alan Shepard's space suit.
Jasmine Star gives good advice for your first photography shoot.

Thanksgiving 101 from Martha Stewart. Get ready!

I’m so excited for this Coach party next Friday, Coach is having a fabulous collaboration with a bunch of my favorite bloggers! (The link is to The Glamourai.)

Another beautiful wedding, as seen on Rock n’ Roll Bride.

Fasten Seat Belts 2.

Another image from our trip to Florida, at Fantasy of Flight.

Did I post a link to Hungover Owls yet? It cracks me up.

Flickr stream of the week, one of my oldest contacts, pyza*, who has taken hamster photography to a new level.

Another awesome IKEA hack, this time using my pen holder as a lampshade.

…and my YouTube video of the week is a “best of Liz Lemon” clip reel, as 30 Rock is one of my favorite shows.

Sunday Link Party!

Photo of the week. An old one from a trip to Seattle a few years ago. I took this from the top of the Space Needle.

Seattle, WA - May 3, 2007 - View from the Space Needle.

Seattle is one of my favorite cities.

Twitalyzer has cool Twitter stats. I love stats.

Are all URL shorteners created equal? From Edelman Digital.

This should maybe be posted on The Daily Wishlist, but oh well. Here’s a gallery of fabulous jewelry for geeks, from Mashable.

I have a few videos to add this week too.

This video is from late 2009. Tori Amos, performing one of my favorite songs of hers live – “Doughnut Song.”

My friend Kelly made this hilarious video about wanting all of your friends to have Blackberry Messenger. I love to BBM so I found this hysterical. It is NSFW.

This next video is an excerpt from the Life series.  My husband bought it for us, but because he knows what is up, we have the BBC version, narrated by David Attenborough.

Anyway, this video shows 2 Clark’s Grebes in a mating ritual. It isn’t dirty or anything. I find it particularly touching and it makes me so happy to watch. I think that true love feels like what the dancing birds look like at 2:04 in the video.

Curious Tuesday 004.

by Jamie Sanford on May 26, 2010

I am participating in Gala Darling’s Curious Tuesday project.

Curious Tuesday #4

1. Who is your favourite musician, NOT in terms of talent or aptitude, but based on pure sex appeal?

Justin Timberlake? He is very sexy on his own, but I can’t put aside in my mind his most recent album, which I adore and which adds to the appeal.

2. What were some quirks of your past lovers that drove you crazy?

Let’s not get into that. They are in the past for a reason.

3. If there was a movie made about your life, what song would you absolutely INSIST be on the soundtrack?

“Bittersweet Symphony” by The Verve.  90s awesomeness.

4. What is your favourite quote right now?

Something snarky from the epic television show Daria, which I’ve been watching on DVD recently. It’s so snarky and brilliant and real, I almost want to have a kid so I can make them watch this.  Here’s one:

My goal is not to wake up at forty with a bitter realization that I wasted my life at a job I hate because I was forced to decide on a career in my teens. -Daria

Curious Tuesday 002.

by Jamie Sanford on May 5, 2010

I am participating in Gala Darling’s Curious Tuesday project.

Curious Tuesday 002

1. What are you most excited for RIGHT NOW?

A new opportunity! (More to come soon.)

Also excited about my new blog, The Daily Wishlist.

2. Who is your style icon? What inspires your look?

I don’t have one person who I look to and try to emulate, I think I look at everyone who I think looks great, and try to determine if something they’re doing might work for me.  I watch What Not To Wear a lot and have learned a lot about layering from that show, it’s had a huge impact on my stylistic choices.

Will and Jamie at the Intrepid.

Due to my weird positioning to take this picture, you can see that I'm layering here.

3. If you could have dinner with anyone, alive or dead, who would you invite?

Trent Reznor, Christina Hendricks and my Nana.  (This is one of those hard questions and the answers would probably change every day.)

4. What did you dress up as for your first Halloween?

If only I remembered.  In my younger years I know that I was Pocahontas, a green-faced witch (multiple times), and Raggedy-Ann.

My costumes now are almost always scary/dark.  Last year I was “an escaped mental patient on a killing spree.”  Here’s a past vampire costume:

HalloweenJamie2

Mostly I really liked the wig and bought other stuff to go around it.

5. What are you improving?

My prospects, my blogs, my photography.  Always lots to improve.
