Instagram Roundup #39

by Jamie Sanford on May 8, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

Back again!

Spring springing all over the place, and for 2 weeks it is super lovely. Then the flowers vanish and summer is inevitable.

Tourmalinated quartz! This ring was a Christmas present from Will, I love it.

This is the fakest stuff on earth, but it does really smell like maple syrup.

Mom brought Wispa bars from England!

Throwback Thursday was this picture of a picture I took while in Florida. This is David and I at the end of our freshman year of high school. 18 years ago. Oy.

Back at the surgeon’s office, I got my stitches out!

Signs that I am uninterested in growing up include this top, since the little stars make up a triumphant unicorn with wings. Thanks ASOS for creating such lovely things.

Hibachi date on Saturday night! We got to join in on Aunt Betty’s 91st birthday party, which was a RAGER.

This is my husband. I didn’t see him yesterday before I left in the morning, so I didn’t get to see this outfit until he was walking towards me in the parking lot at the bus dropoff, and damn! He looked super hot. You can’t see it here but it is a button-down shirt with the blue sweater on top, and it was all fitted and my husband looked damn good.

I know I am biased, but I feel awesome about the fact that after 13 years together (married about 6 1/2 of those), I still get moments like that.

TIME TO SHAKE THE WORLD. I really need to get down with this message.

Instagram Roundup #34

by Jamie Sanford on April 3, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

Will knew I had been a bit stressed lately. He bought me this lovely band to let me know he was proud, and he knows I love sparkly things. The band goes perfectly with this amethyst ring he bought for me a few Christmases ago.

Spring is trying like hell to spring, but it is still pretty cold here. Here’s hoping for a warmer weekend.

I watched Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead a while back and finally bought a juicer recently. While I have not committed to a full juice fast/reboot, I am trying to juice 2 meals a day to kind of work up to it. I have been feeling hungry by the end of the day, but the entire day goes by without feeling it much at all. I have been definitely inspired by the Juicy Queens, Azraea and Leopolitan, who are doing a 60-day juicing stretch! I made this sign for my desk at work with the Keep Calm generator.

I want this station wagon.

The Dreaming Tree is one of my favorite songs. I had never tried the wine, and unfortunately, I probably won’t ever try it again.

We went hunting for some Brazilian food items on Saturday, and found lots of interesting items.

This did not smell delicious.

I RARELY cook, but receiving soup crocks from Nan (delivered by Dad) made me want some French Onion Soup. So, on Saturday night, I took something like 3 hours to make the soup. It was nuts! Super delicious results though. I’m planning on a much easier cream of mushroom soup for this week. It’s going to be too hot for soup soon enough.

Have a good week!

Instagram Roundup

by Jamie Sanford on March 30, 2012

Since I just talked yesterday about love for Instagram, and learned more about tilt shift, I decided to create a post following the recent days through the photos I posted. Here we go.

Noritake stemware in the new InStyle!
I had no idea that when I sent this black Noritake Palais Black stemware to InStyle that it would end up this pretty in the magazine!

Ken is sassy as ever.

I saw Ken in the grocery store. If he was human, I think I would see him out at certain bars I frequent.

Overlooking the armor @metmuseum.

Met Friday! Will and I have put good use to our Met memberships, we generally go on Friday nights when the museum is open until 9. I’m looking down at the armor gallery here.

Stained glass from a Brooklyn church in the 1800s. @metmuseum

This stained glass was recovered from an old church in Brooklyn.

Furniture shopping. @metmuseum

I started furniture shopping in the American Wing. Later on while walking through the home portion, I got excited and a little emotional because I was looking at things that could have been owned by my ancestors. This is a little bit more at the forefront of my mind because I’ve been actively using my Ancestry.com account again. Way more on that to come.

Last week, I was in the Noritake showroom for a few days running. Since I started parking at a certain lot nearby, I always photograph the Flatiron Building when I walk by.  I can’t pass without doing it now, so I have a few shots from last week.  This is Wednesday morning.

Also Wednesday morning.

Foggy today.

Thursday was foggier.

Third time this week.

Friday was absolutely gorgeous.

NYC is totally Springtown.

Then on the way home, I started noticing that Spring is in full effect.

Went to a tiny county zoo with my visiting Dad on Saturday, and saw lots of gorgeous flowers. I wish I had thought to take a picture of Dad and me in the zoo.

One of my favorite Instagram photos yet, this tree was pink and stunning.

Chianti.Dinner with Dad and Will that evening at an Italian place that totally seems like it is a mob front – they shared the majority of this bottle of chianti. It was pretty delicious, but my chicken parm was the real winner.

They are mini!

Easter-themed crack, AKA Cadbury Eggs, come in minis! They are adorable in their little egg crate.

Bought as a novelty but it's actually a good lip balm.

I bought this Mountain Dew lip balm from ThinkGeek. I know it should be all wrong, but I really love it. It’s a way better result than the Bacon Lip Balm I bought, which is the most disgusting thing ever. Ew.

This was in my fortune cookie today. Oddly timed – but like horoscopes, I’m sure this is just vague enough for me to think the universe is speaking to me. Maybe I have more skepticism than integrity?

Prada Ready-to-Wear Collection, Spring 2012

I won’t be wearing this Prada skirt that I love.

As much as I read and enjoy many fashion blogs, I have trouble identifying with most things during Fashion Week. As most of the designers showing collections do not cater to plus-size women, it’s mostly a giant tease for those of us that fall into that category. (I would love to hear more about this from the plus-size fashion bloggers attending Fashion Week, because part of me just doesn’t understand the appeal.) Sure, I can be “inspired” by a look from the runway, but what if I want that exact skirt? Well, I’m SOL because the sizes are limited.

That being said, a collection that is a perfect example of this is the Prada ready-to-wear collection presented in Milan last week.  I think there are a lot of people in the fashion industry who look down on fat people, who think just like Tom Ford does, but perhaps they aren’t inviting trouble by being vocal about it. Is Miuccia Prada the same way – and also, is she against making money? Because I have a feeling that some of these pieces, sized up, would make a killing.

Here are my other picks from the Prada show that I will not be wearing anytime soon. (All photos via Style.com.)

Love this skirt. I guess I can have that bag, since the bag doesn’t care what size I wear.

Skirt + jacket.

Not so much with that bandeau top, but that skirt is gorgeous.

This skirt might be even better. Gorgeous.

Is that pleated, flowy leather? Want.

I wouldn’t wear it over a bathing suit, but I would wear this coat to death.

Not gonna lie, I’m sad now that I won’t be obtaining any of these pieces without starving myself for 6 months.  I have heard that designers have to do so much more work to make pieces in sizes that are bigger than the norm, but a pleated skirt like those heavily featured at Prada cannot be that challenging to size up. However, I’m not a designer, I don’t sew at all, so I don’t know about sizing clothing.

I’d love to hear from plus-size girls/bloggers with their thoughts on this!
