2013 Holiday Wishlist

by Jamie Sanford on December 9, 2013

Holiday wishlist time! I update my Amazon Wishlist all year long, I think myself very useful for giving everyone at least 50 ideas of things I would like to receive. I am perfectly aware that not everyone wants to buy me a $2000 lens, but that’s why it is a wishlist.

Let’s get going on my 2013 list.

I think there’s always a Konstantino piece on everyone one of my wishlists. I love almost all of the pieces! The styling is just totally for me. This Pave London Blue Topaz ring is available from Neiman Marcus for $850.

BEAST camera. I just bought Will the Sony a77, but of course, my jealousy at his new shiny toy makes me want one too. This the biggest and baddest camera you can get from Sony right now, so I’m putting the a99 on my wishlist. Available from Amazon for $2,798.

The Bambi hat by Celapiu on Etsy. So cute for $45.

Another day, another deer for my home. This silver deer head wall sculpture is on sale for $66.

Black Christmas Tree! I have been mourning the fact that we will not have a tree again this year because we will be traveling, and I’m dreaming ahead to a time when I have a home with more than 1 tree in it. We have a normal tree now, but I have way too many things to fit on the current tree. Maybe I could go black and gold, since I have a LOT of gold stuff for the tree. This particular model is available for $174.95 from Amazon.

These are gorgeous, and Dr Martens! This is Arabella by Dr Martens, available for $407.48 on Amazon.

These are reminiscent of some Prada loafers I’ve wanted in the past. Buckled In by Irregular Choice, $169.95 via Solestruck.

That’s all for now. I could go nuts with adding lots more stuff, but this will do. I reserve the right for a part 2!

Let me know what is in your wishlist in the comments!

Tiffany Silver Ziegfeld Collection

by Jamie Sanford on June 24, 2013

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve perused the Tiffany & Co. site to look at jewelry. I was listening to a story that referenced Tiffany and so decided to go browse around. As much as I would love this $350,000 bracelet, the silver collection is more within my financial comfort zone.In particular, I’ll focus on the Ziegfeld collection items here.

Ziegfeld Collection Daisy Pendant, $450.

Ziegfeld Collection Pearl Ring, $475.

Ziegfeld Collection Daisy Ring, $550.

Ziegfeld Collection Daisy Locket – Medium, $600.

Ziegfeld Collection Daisy Locket – Large, $800.

Ziegfeld Collection Black Onyx Tassel Necklace, $600.

I will plan on making a purchase on Tiffany.com at some point, because my customer experiences with Tiffany have been amazing. I don’t doubt that they will score very highly in the brand experience examination.

Are you a Tiffany fan? I’d love to see links to your favorite Tiffany items in the comments.

Polish Project #37

137. Orly Goth
95. OPI Metallic 4 Life (Retesting)
107. LA Splash Midnight (Retesting)
138. Milani Black Magic

Orly Goth, OPI Metallic 4 Life, LA Splash Midnight.

I used Milani Black Magic as the base coat on the testing wheel.

Orly Goth, OPI Metallic 4 Life, LA Splash Midnight (all over Milani Black Magic.)

Orly’s Goth didn’t need a base coat – it is a full-on black polish with various small-sized silver glittery bits. I mentioned in a previous post that I would need to do a side-by-side comparison of Metallic 4 Life and Midnight, and you can really see a difference here. Metallic 4 Life is really big hex glitters, what looks like medium round pieces and then little ones to fill it in. They are true silver. The LA Splash Midnight is a much more densely packed smaller pieces of silver glitter, but they have a multi-color flash that is really fun.

Thoughts: I love a dark polish and adding glitter is just the sparkly cherry on top. The Milani Black Magic is going into the pile of basic black polishes, which will always get used.
Verdict: Everyone stays. I was hoping to cull one of the sparkly ones but I like them too much.

Ametrine Jewelry from JTV

by Jamie Sanford on April 6, 2012

Ametrine Jewelry from JTV

Hello, my name is Jamie, and I watch Jewelry Television.  I don’t know if this is available everywhere, but I have been enjoying watching the passionate JTV hosts do their thing for years, especially my girls Dawn and Mandy, they are amazing.

This all stems from my rough gemstone collection that I had when I was a kid and that I really hope that is in the boxes somewhere at Mom and Dad’s house. I love weird random gemstones that aren’t what everyone is used to, and JTV is wonderful for introducing rare, lesser-known gemstones that are still priced really well because the demand isn’t nearly as high for them. Diamonds are way easier to get than tanzanite, but everyone has been paying way more for diamonds because the demand has been high for years and years.

Anyway, something I saw recently reminded me that I do not have any jewelry featuring ametrine, and I really want some.

Cool, right? This stone is on clearance for $34.99.

From JTV:

Ametrine is a color-zoned variety of quartz that, as its name suggests, is actually half amethyst and half citrine that are believed to “grow” side by side in nature. How the two actually form next to each other as they do is still a bit of a mystery, but the differences in color are believed to be the result of the presence of iron in different states of oxidation from heat.

This one is a specialty cut – also awesome. This one is available for $79.99.

I could go on and on about how cool gemstones are, how amazing it is to think about this pretty rock that was formed under specific conditions, millions of years ago, and now it’s on my finger or in these earrings. That’s insane!

Let’s move on to look at jewelry.

Mandiore Ametrine, Brazilian Citrine, Amethyst And White Topaz 1.90ctw Sterling Pendant With Chain, $59.99.

I am generally not into yellow gold, but this is a stone that works really well with it. Mandiore Ametrine 7.50ct Rectangular Octagonal Concave Cut With Diamond .15ctw 10k Yellow Gold Ring, $229.56.

The center stone here is a specialty cut that is just really interesting and makes this a standout for me. Plus, the surrounding amethysts are really rich in color. Mandiore Ametrine Pineapple Cut And Brazilian Amethyst 6.90ctw Sterling Silver Ring, $119.99.

This one is a little less bold than the last one, without a specialty cut, but still has beautiful amethysts included as well. Mandiore Ametrine, Brazilian Amethyst And Diamond Accent 6.18ctw Sterling Silver Ring, $119.99.

I really want this pendant. A lot. Mandiore Ametrine, Brazilian Amethyst And Diamond Accent 5.96ctw Sterling Silver Pendant, $99.99.

The ametrine in this ring is less impressive, which is helped by the choice to emphasize the color change with the other stones in the setting. However, I like the overall setting quite a lot. Mandiore Ametrine, Citrine And Amethyst 3.93ctw Sterling Silver Ring, $79.99.

Question of the day! What’s your favorite gemstone? Share it in the comments.

Silver Antler Necklace

by Jamie Sanford on September 9, 2010

Continuing Antler Week with jewelry this time, a necklace that actually looks delicate to me which I think is a nice juxtaposition.

A realistic depiction of a deers antlers is cast in pewter and given a dark antique silver finish. the pendant hangs on an 18″ sterling silver chain necklace, and measures 5.1cm (or approximately 2″) tall.

I am adding this to my Etsy favorites list immediately. The Antler Necklace from Etsy seller Makeit is available for $22.
