2016 Instagram Roundup

by Jamie Sanford on December 30, 2016

As always, I can’t believe it’s time for year-in-review posts!

Let’s go over the best in my Instagram for the year.

Estate sailing was in full effect early in the year. It’s a good way to keep busy on grey winter Saturdays.

It snowed, a lot.

Another estate sale, this time with handpainted garbage cans.

Estate sailing with the boys. Not sure how I would survive without my partners-in-crime.

More estate sale decay.

We had this amazing visitor at my office.

We spent a lot of time in the park system of Bergen County. It was colder this day than we planned for.

You know things are changing when part of the party consists of trying to make the babies smile in unison.

The beginning of warmer weather means more opportunities for Flatiron Building photos.

We located some more of my ancestors in local cemeteries!

We escaped the room!

I planned another random adventure, this time to Penn’s Cave in Pennsylvania.

I made my first flower crown and we went to the NYC pride parade.

We went on a ferry boat in Lake Ontario to a wonderful wedding!

I got to wear one of my favorite dresses EVER.

I visited my friend Wadee’ah and watched her make cake for her custom cake company, Terry’s Heaven-Lee Bakery.

We went to Florida for Nan’s 90th birthday. One day, Will and I invaded her house and we made Pistachio-Rose Clouds, which are super delicious.

Nan’s birthday party definitely had a theme. Mom had been talking about it for 2 years.

We stayed at a house with this view in early August, in Boothbay Harbor, Maine.

We caught some lightning outside of our window. I think this is the best lightning photo I have ever taken! The Sony NEX-6 has served me well.

We took a few trips to the Met, one in particular to see Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.

Still regretting not buying what we called the Chewbacca painting at one of the oddest estate sales that we’d ever been to.

When the light looks like this, you have to take a photo.

I was already obsessed with the Snapchat bee filter, so I had to try it again once I decided to go with turquoise hair.

Will accompanied me to the Martha Stewart Weddings Bridal Market party, where he then indulged me by trying all of the photobooths.

Here’s our family photo at the pumpkin patch/apple farm.

Halloween look number 1 was a complete success. I took an existing headband with battery-powered skulls and turned it into a gothy flower crown.

I fully embraced any and all 90s style throwbacks that I could.

Cooler weather and changing leaves put us back on track for long walks in the woods and on trails.

We went to Las Vegas with 28 other people and renewed our wedding vows for our 10th anniversary.

The Bellagio fountains have the same level of picture-worthiness as the Flatiron Building.

I created a number of travel detritus still-life photos. They are one of my favorite ways to create memories of our trips that are really fun to look back on.

Still trying to be a little bit of a photographer, and then being surprised and mildly annoyed when my subject turns on me and then I accidentally make a photo that is WAY better than what I intentioned. It feels like cheating.

I surprised Will with a trip to New Orleans for our birthday weekend!

Here is Will in the Napoleon House, our new favorite bar.

We got to spend a few minutes with Jason after a dinner at Sylvain, a new favorite in New Orleans. I’m going to collaborate on a New Orleans guide with William in Q1.

Back home and back to estate sailing. We ended up in a top 5 weirdest house, with an OBGYN’s office in the basement. Brian’s face says it all.

It was exciting to be home for Christmas and to be able to have Christmas Eve with Brian and David, who just recently got engaged! I love nothing more than adventuring with these 3 men, and spending a quiet Christmas Eve with them was the best. We ate some delicious Honeybaked Ham and extravagant side dishes, played Bucket of Doom, and exchanged gifts. It was relaxed and amazing.  (The previous link is an affiliate link, which means I receive a small commission if you make a purchase using this link.)

I think that is all for the recap. I am wishing you all the best for 2017.

Instagram Roundup #126: 2015 Year in Review

by Jamie Sanford on January 1, 2016

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

The first Flatiron photo included snow!

I had dinner in January with my sister and her mother-in-law, Joan. Sadly, at the end of this year, Joan lost her battle with cancer. #fuckcancer

We continued going to estate sales, including the best one ever, at a teacher’s former home.

March brought a road trip through parts of the south, and we ended up in New Orleans, a favorite destination.

We went on an airboat tour, and I got to hold this little gator!

In April, I went to Florida for my Mom’s birthday, and surprised everyone else in my family too!

Mom and I baked together.

I also fished with Dad and Pete.

I also hung out with my nephew Cooper.

It was a year full of visits to our local parks.

I also tried new chip flavors, like All Dressed, from Canada.

I took a wonderful course called Miracle Worker, and met a bunch of amazing ladies.

I got to spend much time with wonderful friends.

David and I conquered the corn dogs at the fair.

We went to a mineral museum to see a room of fluorescing rocks!

I found a rooster at the state fair that looked like David Bowie’s character in Labyrinth, Jareth.

I wore a hat at almost every opportunity.

Lots of instafortunes.

We had 2 lovely weekends at the Jersey Shore.

We had a ball at #theknotgala in October.

More Flatiron photos were taken.

Halloween was eventful and one of the most fun I have had in ages.

I tweeted something that charmed me and it became my most popular tweet ever.

I took William to Pennsylvania for a weekend of trains.

I got to have dinner with my beautiful sister in November.

We went to Sandy Hook in NJ – more on that soon.

We took a holiday road trip, and started out strong, getting selfies with Santa Claus and Ms. Virginia!

We also had a great stop in Charleston, South Carolina. I wish we would have had more time there.

In addition to seeing our family, we got to spend time with friends. The selfie stick resulted in too many options to not share them all.

We made our final stop at Congaree National Park on our way home. A lifetime of smirky selfies with this wonderful man will never be enough.

Instagram Roundup #118: 2014 Year in Review

by Jamie Sanford on December 29, 2014

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

It was a year full of wonderful Throwback Thursdays out of an album of pictures of Mom and Dad.

Lots of instafortunes too.

The estate sailing went into full effect. Lots of opportunities to see the insides of many homes.

William mastered the art of creative crepes, to my complete benefit.

Bought this duct tape because it was funny, and it became a running punch line in our life.

Multiple flatiron photos, always on the way to 41 Madison.

Another set of themed photos were of dolls who were not interested in your nonsense. It turns out that there are lots of opportunities to see dolls with attitude at estate sales.

Will graduated with his new master’s degree in May, and we booked a last-minute cruise to Bermuda!

We only spent a little bit of time at an actual beach, but we made the most of it. I want to fly back for a weekend soon.

We went to the Fancy Food Show with Christina and Johnny.

The 1999 Altima had its last ride on July 4th.

We replaced it with a 2014 Hyundai Tucson. This is Will and I’s first new car!

Meet-a-versary selfie.

It felt like we went to Medieval Times a few times this year, but I actually think it was just twice.

These two are my partners-in-crime.

Multi-generational photo from when we took Mom and Dad to Margaretville, NY, where Dad’s Dad’s Dad was born and raised.

Pete visited and we spent an afternoon at the Museum of Natural History.

Will gave you sexy librarian realness at Lincoln Center.

We went to Dubai and Abu Dhabi for Thanksgiving – here we are going to dinner with Mom and Dad.

We went to our first Formula One race, which I still haven’t blogged about, and it was a serious highlight of the year.

Possibly my prettiest Instagram of the year, at the Burj Al Arab.

We dragged family members estate sailing. Mom came with us in early December.

A week later, my nephew Phil came along.

I will close out with what is my favorite Instagram of the year, from our birthday dinner. I have much to say about this man and our relationship, but it boils down to me being the luckiest person, and how I am trying to keep constantly aware of how grateful and blessed I am. I have been much more present in that as of late and want to continue it to 2015 and beyond.

Formula One -Derland: Korea 2013

by Jamie Sanford on October 8, 2013

Be sure to check the Formula One wiki for more complete results, or visit Planet F1.

Photos are from Planet F1 unless otherwise noted.

One of my favorite drivers, Paul di Resta, has not had a good streak of luck as of late. I’m not too happy with Paul’s contribution to my fantasy points at this point in the season.

Fernando “Eyebrows” Alonso, continuing down the trail of awesomeness. Not his best weekend, but I still think he’s the best driver in the field.

This is Jenson Button, laughing at me for dropping him from my fantasy team. He’s doing marginally better than he did earlier in the season.

I would really really like to know what Massa and Vettel have to laugh about.

Vettel was on pole position, again, with Romain Grosjean and Lewis Hamilton behind him. He did the same thing as in Singapore, and just TOOK OFF at the start and amassed a 2-second gap by the end of the first lap. Grosjean didn’t let him get the lead he had managed over Nico Rosberg during the last race, but it still seemed unreachable for Grosjean. Even after 2 safety car periods, Vettel still managed a gap.

(Photo from here) Meanwhile, the luckless Mark Webber‘s car was up in flames for the second consecutive race. What is Red Bull making his car out of?

(Photo from here) The 2 Mercedes drivers were going at it when all of a sudden, Rosberg’s nose just sort of fell, and it was crazy sparkage from there. Absolutely mad. But, he went back into the pits, got a new nose, and was back on track.

Sigh. Vettel wins the race. Kimi Raikkonen passed Grosjean for second, which seemed inevitable since Kimi is still (sort of) in the title race. Vettel has an insane points lead, and it is mathematically possible for him to win the season championship during the next race, which is in Japan, at his personal favorite track. We shall see. Apparently Lewis Hamilton totally agrees with me that watching the same person win all of the time is boring.

Las Vegas Vow Renewal Recap

by Jamie Sanford on November 19, 2011

There’s been a lag in posting the last few days, it has been crazy with catching up after our trip to Las Vegas!

However, we had a blast so I’ll share some of the photos here with a little bit of story attached.  While our whole trip was fun, I will focus only on 11-11-11, our anniversary and the date of our vow renewal!  (Warning – photo heavy!)

Starting the day with mimosas at Mon Ami Gabi at Paris.

Also, I had bananas foster crepes that were crazy.

Not my husband, but my BFF David. He and I walked around, I contemplated a tattoo, then I watched him play poker. Then went back to my room to wait for my hair and makeup crew from Makeup in the 702.

BAM! Those ladies are amazing. In just an hour they made me look super glamorous! I need them in my life all of the time.

David came back to take Will and I out to take some photos. All of my favorites are the ones where we are cracking up.

As always, I put sunglasses on my head and didn’t think about them again. Also, Will and I had to take our standard “at arm’s length” photo.

I love this one – chin be damned!

This one too.

We got to the hotel attached to the chapel and there was, naturally, a cosplay convention happening there. Totally perfect and amazing.

This is pre-renewal at the gazebo. Aren’t my flowers pretty?

This is our Elvis. He was fantastic.

Elvis sang “All Shook Up” as the opening to the ceremony. My dad danced me down the aisle. It was really fun.

None of the pictures show my dress too well because I was cold and wore my black velvet blazer the whole time. Oh well. Here we are with our parents after the ceremony.

Here you can see our new rings! Neither of us are replacing our original wedding rings, we now just have extras.

I ended up in a limo with 6 boys to go back to our hotel. I wish this was in focus, but you get the idea.

Tiny Edward made an appearance at dinner.

From last night during dinner...
This also happened at dinner.

So, you can probably see that it was nothing traditional, but very fun and frivolous. Everyone loved Elvis, and especially enjoyed that we picked “Suspicious Minds,” which is about thinking that your lover is cheating on you, in the middle of our ceremony. Mostly we just liked the song and didn’t want anything slow.

We’ve already been asked about another renewal in 5 years. …and I just found out that it falls on a Friday. This might be a repeating situation!
