137. Orly Goth
95. OPI Metallic 4 Life (Retesting)
107. LA Splash Midnight (Retesting)
138. Milani Black Magic

Orly Goth, OPI Metallic 4 Life, LA Splash Midnight.

I used Milani Black Magic as the base coat on the testing wheel.

Orly Goth, OPI Metallic 4 Life, LA Splash Midnight (all over Milani Black Magic.)

Orly’s Goth didn’t need a base coat – it is a full-on black polish with various small-sized silver glittery bits. I mentioned in a previous post that I would need to do a side-by-side comparison of Metallic 4 Life and Midnight, and you can really see a difference here. Metallic 4 Life is really big hex glitters, what looks like medium round pieces and then little ones to fill it in. They are true silver. The LA Splash Midnight is a much more densely packed smaller pieces of silver glitter, but they have a multi-color flash that is really fun.

Thoughts: I love a dark polish and adding glitter is just the sparkly cherry on top. The Milani Black Magic is going into the pile of basic black polishes, which will always get used.
Verdict: Everyone stays. I was hoping to cull one of the sparkly ones but I like them too much.

105. Funky Fingers Reject (Not online, got it at Five Below.) (Also, the name is not Reject, I just rejected it and tossed it and don’t know the name.)
106. Milani Silver Dazzle
107. LA Splash Midnight (Another one I can’t find online, I don’t remember where I purchased this one.)
108. OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyranees Suede

This is a shame, because you can see how pretty it is on the nail back there, and even in the bottle.

But the formula is a hot mess, so much so that thinner isn’t going to cut it.

Thoughts: Pretty but a pain.
Verdict: Already went in the trash.

Milani Silver Dazzle, LA Splash Midnight, OPI Suzi Skis in the Pyranees Suede.

First up, a coat (just the one) of Suzi Skis in the Pyranees Suede, then alternating topcoat for shine. The index and ring fingers have Poshe topcoat.

Then added LA Splash Midnight over the middle finger, and Milani Silver Dazzle over the ring finger.

Then thought that Midnight might be a dupe for OPI’s Metallic 4 Life from the Nicki Minaj collection. I will have to do a direct side-by-side but they appear to be quite similar.

Thoughts: I think that Suzi Skis in the Pyranees Suede is my favorite gray polish, but I prefer it with the topcoat. The glitters I tried here are also great. I will re-test Midnight and Metallic 4 Life in a future post.
Verdict: Everyone gets to stay!

Polish Project #23

94. OPI My Pointe Exactly
95. OPI Metallic 4 Life

My first plan was to paint my nails with My Pointe Exactly and maybe an accent nail with Metallic for Life. However…

This is what it looked like after 3 coats. I think I’m just not a sheer polish type of girl. You can see where I went with the Metallic 4 Life accent, and then decided to go all out.

Metallic 4 Life is a mashup of different sizes of silver glitter in a black base. I had trouble with it before but it worked really well over another polish. Bottom coats of something other than just basecoat are the way to go for me.

Thoughts: My Pointe Exactly is good for someone, but I am not into these jelly/sheer polishes. Metallic 4 Life isn’t super easy to apply but the end result is really fun.
Verdict: My Pointe Exactly goes into the share, I’m keeping Metallic 4 Life.

Lia Sophia Cubist ring as seen on Nicki Minaj

by Jamie Sanford on August 22, 2011

Today we have an item as seen in a music video.  This time it is Nicki Minaj in the “Where Them Girls At” video, which is a collabo between Nicki, Flo Rida and David Guetta.  Here’s a look at the video.

[youtube p4kVWCSzfK4]

Nicki looks fabulous in the video, as always.

My friend Cindy emailed me to let me know that the fabulous ring that Nicki is rocking here is from Lia Sophia.  If you haven’t been introduced to Lia Sophia, it is a great catalog-driven jewelry line.  If you haven’t been invited to a Lia Sophia party yet, you probably will soon, it is getting more and more popular.

Anyway, Nicki is wearing the Cubist ring:

It’s really cute.  Here’s the description:

A wide band of matte gold is boldly crowned with a glistening cube of black diamond cut crystals individually set and squared up across the top and all four sides.

I like the style of this, gold isn’t really my thing but I do like the cube.

The Lia Sophia Cubist ring is available for $110, but will most likely cost less if you pair it in with whatever Lia Sophia special is running at the time.  (Actually, I just checked out the Lia Sophia main site and they have a whole section showing celebrities wearing their items! Click here to check it out.)

Nicki Minaj, serving wigs, fierceness and Dr Martens boots in the “Super Bass” video.

This is old now but I didn’t post it. Hot interview and of course, interesting photos from a Harper’s Bazaar cover that Lady Gaga did recently.
