The Myrtle Beach posts: Part 1 | Part 2

I took so many photos in Myrtle Beach, and one of our last stops before heading to Charleston was the boardwalk area – before going back on to Route 17 to make our way to Charleston. I am happy to realize, when looking through these again, that there are so many people in our world that appreciate good design and branding. It is such an obvious, important piece of business, and Myrtle Beach is a great example.

The Gay Dolphin Gift Cove is actually listed on Roadside America. I bought the Roadside America app before we left, it was a great way to find local things to check out.

Our next stop is Huntington Beach State Park, but we had a great run in Myrtle Beach. I can’t wait to go back again.

We stopped so many times when we were driving down Route 17 in Myrtle Beach, there was so just SO much to see and photograph. I cannot resist good signs, and there were so many to see. This route in particular is so full of businesses embracing the competitive nature of bigger and more colorful and more everything, which made for a great ride.

The Myrtle Beach posts: Part 2 | Part 3

We took a road trip to visit Florida for the holidays this year. We purchased a Hyundai Tucson last year, and hadn’t tried it out for more than a few hours at a time, so it was time. We also had the chance to take 2 weeks off in a row (!) so we took the time to take 4 stops on the way there.

After our first stop in Arlington, Virginia to visit Arlington National Cemetery, we made our way to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. I planned this road trip by picking out where we wanted to go and then trying to not drive on I-95 the whole time to get there. Since we wanted to go to Charleston for a night, it seemed like an obvious choice to take one long day of driving to drive from Arlington to Myrtle Beach in one long stint.

We stayed right on the ocean at the Embassy Suites (we booked all Hilton hotels for the trip, gathering all of the available HHonors points), and had a beautiful ocean view. We arrived at night, and so got to experience some of the majesty of Route 17 and all of the amazing signage all lit up – we didn’t really explore the area until the next day. We were on our way to Charleston, but we definitely want to go back to Myrtle Beach in the future.

You can’t really not stop and look at the crumbling strip club. Am I in a minority there?

We will be going to the Giant Crab when we go back. I could not get enough of these spriggan/deer hybrids they had in front of the restaurant.

More images coming soon!
