Mom

Instagram Roundup #54

by Jamie Sanford on August 28, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

Super fresh figs at work. Looks terrifying, but these are so delicious.

I won $150 with my Mega Millions ticket! Needless to say, the next ticket I bought with my winnings yielded nothing.

We bought proscuitto, and it delivered on happiness.

I wore my Rock ‘n Roll Bride/Crown & Glory Liberace ears out on Saturday. I will get a better picture of them soon.

Will Mom be pissed that I’m sharing this picture of her and her BFFs from the 80s? Not sure, but Mom’s friend Dot (Mom is in the middle, Dot is on the left) is in the photo, and her daughter Ashley LOVED  it.

My Mother is on Facebook – Pros and Cons

by Jamie Sanford on August 13, 2013

This is one in a series of posts pulled from Chris Brogan’s “100 blog topics I hope YOU write.” (#23)

I signed Mom up for a Facebook account in December, while I was in Florida for the holidays. Here’s my current list of pros and cons to having your Mom on Facebook.

Pros

  • Greatly reduced need to be repetitive. I don’t have to send pictures to Mom and upload to Facebook, since she will see them when she checks FB
  • Mom gets to communicate with other family members who she doesn’t see very often

Cons

  • I become repetitive when I talk on the phone to Mom, because she already knows about anything I’ve posted on Facebook
  • I had to ask Mom to stop embarrassing my teenage nephews on Facebook
  • Mom is using her limited Facebook skills to teach Dad about Facebook, which results in lots of posts that say “Love Mom” at the end
  • Mom can see random things people post on my Facebook wall – which can at times be moderately inappropriate
  • Mom still cannot upload photos to Facebook, or change her profile picture, or upload a new cover photo = I’m giving Facebook lessons

Even though there are more cons than pros, I’m really OK with mom being on Facebook. Hopefully she will make time for me soon to show her how to handle photos, and maybe we will see the images she took from her trip to England, where she was in March. I’m calling her out on the blog, so hopefully this will help. Love you Mom!

Instagram Roundup #38

by Jamie Sanford on May 1, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

Tried this Dove Dry Shampoo. Way better than the Tresemme one I was using!

Amazon sent me a package with Prime tape. I don’t know how much I’ve talked about it, but I cannot recommend Amazon Prime enough. For $70 a year it cannot be beat. Amazon Instant Video access is great, and free 2-day shipping on all items that ship from Amazon directly. Once you sign up, you will never go back.

Surprise trip to Florida! I didn’t get to talk about it anywhere, but I went to Florida last week to surprise my Mom for her birthday. I stayed at my BFF David‘s Mom’s house after arriving Thursday night, and he had this poster waiting for me, from our Summer 1997 production of Pippin. I wish I had taken it with me!

Successfully surprised Mom!

Surprised Nan too.

Full moon over the lake behind Mom and Dad’s house.

Saw these at Publix, my favorite grocery store on the planet. How nice to get a chance to clean the cart! No one has that here!

Because I still have stitches from my mini surgery, I didn’t go in the pool. I stuck my blue toes in though.

After my quick trip, it was back to NJ. I landed early, and had to then hightail it to the Wellmont in Montclair, NJ for the How to destroy angels show.

The show was fantastic, and I will have a full post with photos soon.

Sunday Link Party!

by Jamie Sanford on July 19, 2010

This is the 10th link party. I’m excited for having stuck to it.

Photo of the week – me and my mom at her birthday party in April – only uploaded this week.

Mom and me.

You can tell that I'm her kid, at least a little bit.

From Apartment Therapy: Beautiful chandeliers inspired by nature.

From The Kitchn: What Makes You Crave a Dish?

Joy the Baker made cupcakes with peanut butter that look amazing. In my mind I would love to bake more often, but having the oven on in the summer is just ridiculous.  I’ll stockpile recipes for the fall.

Fashionista has a slideshow of things you can buy that will benefit the oil spill cleanup efforts.

My friend Christina and I have a friendship that owes itself to a shared love of Wayne’s World, as we spent many a long bus ride to school in 7th grade quoting the movie. This is a favorite.

Cakewich Pan

by Jamie Sanford on May 31, 2010

We all know someone who loves to bake, who actually enjoys it and does it as a hobby.

Let me reiterate that I’m not suggesting you buy this for someone who doesn’t enjoy this – I don’t think my mom was too excited about getting a juicer for Christmas that one year.

So this is the Cakewich baking pan, so that you can convert a regular cake batter into a bread-shaped cake and make sandwiches! I’m thinking about a fluffernutter with added Nutella.

The Cakewich pan is available from Amazon for 23.97.
