I have a random folder full of scans from magazines that I’ve purchased over the years. Who doesn’t love Marilyn Monroe?

Artist Adam Carnegie created an amazing piece of art, honoring musicians and music festivals, and it’s going to eat your time in the best possible way.

A Beautiful Mess gives you the lowdown on where professional organizers shop.

Gala Darling, a goddess of gratitude, wrote a great piece on treasuring the love you have.

It does appear as if most magazines can’t handle a plus-size woman on their cover, they just resort to cropping. It’s unfortunate.

This rundown of 90s trends made me reminisce and also cringe.

A list of cult French pharmacy items that you can buy on Amazon! I’m going to Toronto soon and I will be stocking up on Canadian products.

Crystal Pepsi is coming back!

I need a house with a backyard so I can make Triple Tiki Rum Punches and drink them under an umbrella.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Lots to share!

Old clip of RuPaul on the Arsenio Hall Show. I love RuPaul, and I love even more that the message has not changed in all of these years!

During Britney’s Circus tour, videos played during costume changes, and this one using Marilyn Manson’s version of “Sweet Dreams” was super hot.

Amazing behind-the-scenes video of the Spring/Summer 2012 Alexander McQueen show.

Love this Brian Atwood video, inspired by some new color block heels.

I’m going to need to do multiple Sights & Sounds posts, I have a lot to catch up with.

Crazy Love (100 Films in 2011)

by Jamie Sanford on November 15, 2011

85. Crazy Love (Available for streaming on Amazon, available on DVD from Netflix)

Here is the trailer for Crazy Love.

[youtube q8Pt8N9OgtA]

Crazy Love is a documentary that is amazing when you don’t know anything going in. If you are interested in seeing this, do not read my blog post.

At the beginning of the story, we hear about a beautiful girl named Linda Riss, who is living life and meets a man named Burt Pugach.  They start dating and he wines and dines her, and impresses her with his extravagant lifestyle.  Linda plays along until she finds out that Burt is married and has a child.  They break up.

Linda meets a nice man and after some time, they become engaged.  Burt, who was obsessively in love with Linda, hires some men to attack her and they throw lye in her face, disfiguring her eyes and leaving her almost completely blind.  Burt goes to jail and remains there for some time, while still professing his love for Linda.  He starts sending her money, and he is let out on parole so that he can keep sending her money.  The story moves on, and the SHOCKER that I was NOT expecting at all was this.

Burt and Linda ended up MARRIED to each other.

Yeah, the guy who paid people to attack her and ruin her life.  Hmm.

The rest of the movie was me trying to understand how this happened, but it seems sort of obvious.  Linda was in a terrible situation without being able to find someone to share her life with who wasn’t turned off by her injuries or intimidated at the thought of having to care for her.  Burt came back around and said that he loved her and would take care of her.

I typed that but I still don’t really get it.  Not my situation though.  Even if you have read this far and have spoiled it, I still suggest you watch it, I thought it was really well done, and it was fascinating.

Crazy Love is available on DVD from Amazon for $15.99.

Prada Ready-to-Wear Collection, Spring 2012

I won’t be wearing this Prada skirt that I love.

As much as I read and enjoy many fashion blogs, I have trouble identifying with most things during Fashion Week. As most of the designers showing collections do not cater to plus-size women, it’s mostly a giant tease for those of us that fall into that category. (I would love to hear more about this from the plus-size fashion bloggers attending Fashion Week, because part of me just doesn’t understand the appeal.) Sure, I can be “inspired” by a look from the runway, but what if I want that exact skirt? Well, I’m SOL because the sizes are limited.

That being said, a collection that is a perfect example of this is the Prada ready-to-wear collection presented in Milan last week.  I think there are a lot of people in the fashion industry who look down on fat people, who think just like Tom Ford does, but perhaps they aren’t inviting trouble by being vocal about it. Is Miuccia Prada the same way – and also, is she against making money? Because I have a feeling that some of these pieces, sized up, would make a killing.

Here are my other picks from the Prada show that I will not be wearing anytime soon. (All photos via Style.com.)

Love this skirt. I guess I can have that bag, since the bag doesn’t care what size I wear.

Skirt + jacket.

Not so much with that bandeau top, but that skirt is gorgeous.

This skirt might be even better. Gorgeous.

Is that pleated, flowy leather? Want.

I wouldn’t wear it over a bathing suit, but I would wear this coat to death.

Not gonna lie, I’m sad now that I won’t be obtaining any of these pieces without starving myself for 6 months.  I have heard that designers have to do so much more work to make pieces in sizes that are bigger than the norm, but a pleated skirt like those heavily featured at Prada cannot be that challenging to size up. However, I’m not a designer, I don’t sew at all, so I don’t know about sizing clothing.

I’d love to hear from plus-size girls/bloggers with their thoughts on this!
