Beautiful Bands from Nurit Design Jewelry

by Jamie Sanford on May 31, 2011

I’ve been looking at band rings a lot more now that I am planning a vow renewal for my 5-year wedding anniversary.  I don’t want to replace my original wedding band at all but a right-hand band to remind me of the event would be welcome.  Nurit Designs on Etsy has some beautiful band rings with an organic feel.

Autumn leaves in sterling silver with rubies, this band is available for $150 from NuritDesign on Etsy.

This is a unisex gold band that gives me an interlocked branches feeling. This 9-karat gold band is available from Etsy seller NuritDesigns for $280.

There are multiple versions of this lace ring band available.  This version is in 14k white gold and is available for $280. There’s a larger version in 9kt yellow gold available as well.

Jewelry with Personality from Rachel Pfeffer Designs

by Jamie Sanford on April 7, 2011

I really like my jewelry pieces to be interesting and sometimes quirky.  I get comments on my engagement and wedding rings quite often, because they both are not plain and my wedding ring is pretty big.  Anyway, I was excited to find Rachel Pfeffer Designs on Etsy because the jewelry in her shop totally fits my personality.

Mini camera necklace! I love to take pictures and I’ve posted camera jewelry before, so I can’t resist.

Product description:

Now you can wear a tiny Holga around your neck! This little pendant is hand formed from sterling silver wire by yours truly. The flash is a small moonstone cabochon. It is on a short 16 inch sterling silver chain but can be put on an 18 inch one. It is handmade so no two will be exactly alike!

Rachel Pfeffer’s Mini Camera Necklace is available on Etsy for $84.

Another dachshund! I’m going to end up getting one myself at some point (the dog, not the necklace – although if I have the dog, I might want the necklace even more).  Anyway.

Product description:

A cute, texty twist on the classic sterling silver hot dog pendant! He’s cast from an original hotdog that I hand pierced with a jewelers saw and then soldered three little rings to the back. I hammered HOT on the front, darkened the letters, and gave it a bright, brushed finish! He hangs on an 18 inch sterling silver chain.

The puppy is solid sterling silver, and no two look exactly the same! Lettering can be customized, just give me a message.

The Hot Dachshund necklace is available from Etsy Seller Rachel Pfeffer Designs for $72.

This ring doubles as an awesome weapon.  Be bold, indeed.  Seriously though, I love amethyst and this is a mighty big chunk to put on your hand.

Description:

You’ll be infused with boldness when you wear this ring! And how could you not? It commands you to be right there on the side.

I set a beautiful and very lightweight lavender amethyst geode set in handmade sterling silver bezel. The stone itself is amazingly flat, and the ring is incredibly comfortable. It has a double band and the stone sits flatly on your finger, overlapping the surrounding ones! (most comfortable when worn on middle finger.)

I stamped little hearts all the way around the bezel, and the words “be bold” decorate one of the sides. The bottom of the bezel was cut out of an engraved vintage sterling silver award plate, and the word “wishes” is legible on the bottom, adding a secret bit of whimsy.

The ring is currently a size 6.5, but fits more like a 7 because of the broad, flat top.

This ring is completely handmade and one of a kind, so get it before it’s gone!

This kickass “Be Bold” Amethyst Ring from Etsy Seller Rachel Pfeffer Designs is available for $124.

Agate Christmas Tree Ornaments

by Jamie Sanford on November 23, 2010

I collected rocks when I was a kid.  I don’t know how I got into it, but I had lots of books on rocks and minerals, other books on gemstone identification, and of course, a collection of rock specimens. I loved them.

I still love rocks, even though that love now is mostly represented by gemstone pendants of which I have quite a few.  This particular stone has been very hot lately, showing up in high-end jewelry in addition to random eBay shops.

What is agate, you ask? From minerals.net:

Agate is a banded, multicolored, variety of Chalcedony. It occurs in an infinite amount of colors and patterns, and no two Agates are alike. The extraordinary beauty and uniqueness of Agate is responsible for its great popularity.

Agate must be polished to bring out its full charm; unpolished specimens are dull and ugly. It usually forms in rounded nodules or knobs which must be sliced open to bring out the internal pattern hidden in the stone.

There’s some more on Wikipedia too.

So, today’s item is a set of agate slice tree ornaments.

They’re pretty, right? They are edged in 24-carat gold, so the set of 4 comes in a slightly pricey $125.  However, I see these finding their way from the tree to hanging somewhere else in your house, like on the windows or from a chandelier.

Check out the Agate Tree Ornaments on NeimanMarcus.com.

Kelly Framel Jewelry

by Jamie Sanford on November 19, 2010

I’m writing a second post today to point everyone to Kelly Framel’s jewelry shop.

Kelly is also known as The Glamourai, I’ve been reading her blog for some time now and absolutely love her style.  Her pieces are unique and handmade, and that skull ring needs to be mine.  A great option on her site is the layaway program – what a great opportunity to reserve one of her fabulous pieces and have some time to come up with the cash instead of saving up and realizing that someone else scooped it up!

Check out Kelly Framel Jewelry here.
