Irregular Choice Shoe Party

by Jamie Sanford on September 5, 2011

I was introduced to Irregular Choice earlier this year when Gala Darling posted about their shoes after a trip to ENKWSA, a footwear trade show!  This is another brand that is serving a lot of fun color and texture, and none of the shoes in this post cost more than $200.  Let’s check out some standouts that I found on the IC website.

These are a whole season (summer, naturally) in a single shoe.  Ain’t What by Irregular Choice, $145.

I’ll tell you why I love these so much.  They DEFINE how I feel about black items being more than just black.  Look at the heel!  It’s a kitten heel, but the most interesting kitten heel you have ever seen. Drive in Movie by Irregular Choice, $155.

The Anglophile in me loves anything with a Union Jack.  These shoes fit the bill.  Patty by Irregular Choice, $120.

HOLY CRAP look at these.  I wear pants a lot, and I would find a skirt to wear with some dark tights if these shoes were in my life.  Not so much shoes for the office, but that are perfect for a fabulous night out.  Mayhem by Irregular Choice, $195.

Check out the entire Irregular Choice line here.  Which shoes are your pick?

Vegas Wedding Shoes, Part 2.

by Jamie Sanford on June 14, 2011

This is part 2 in a series of posts where I search the Neiman Marcus website for potential shoes to wear for my Vegas wedding (actually a vow renewal), coming up later this year.  Click here to see part 1.

Christian Louboutin Maralena Flame Sandal, $2445. These are so the perfect shoes to wear in Las Vegas, they are showgirls in themselves.  However, they are crazy expensive.  Yes, I have a $300 gift card to Neiman Marcus, but I’m pretty certain that I don’t need to spend more than an additional $300 beyond my gift card.  However, this is fantasy shopping, so I will continue.

Christian Louboutin Suede Glitter Platform Sandal, $895. These glitterbomb shoes look a bit weird without a foot in them.  I think they would appear less clunky when they are actually being worn.  The issue with these is that I’m pretty sure I would tower over my husband who is not that much taller than me.  I love them though, the glitter + pink suede is fabulous.

Miu Miu Suede Peep-Toe Mary Jane Pump, $670. These are also tall but the fact that they are more normal-ish makes me think that I would not be TOO tall in them.  Plus, they are so cute and the heel is bigger which means there is less of a chance that I will fall.  I also think that these would go really well with the sort of 60s-ish style idea that I have in my head.  I would definitely be able to wear these after the fact.  They are not as crazy as some of the other shoes, but they are really gorgeous.

Christian Louboutin Glittered Thick Heel Platform Pump, $795. These might be the winner, even though they are totally going beyond the $300 I might have been willing to spend.  I would have to pay $495 + gift card to obtain these purple beauties.  They are tall, but again, the heel isn’t super skinny so that will help.  In addition, they are sparkly and gorgeous but not in a crazy way that will make me unlikely to wear them again.

Opinions are welcome in the comments!

Vegas Wedding Shoes, Part 1.

by Jamie Sanford on June 10, 2011

This is another post in my “planning for Vegas vow renewal” series. I won a gift card to Neiman Marcus a few months ago from Boutiques.com on Twitter, and have been thinking I would use it to buy something fabulous for our trip to Las Vegas.  What other than fun and fabulous shoes would I go to first?

Miu Miu Peep-Toe Suede Bow Pump, $570. These are the most practical of the bunch, I think. I could probably walk around in these for a few hours before switching to flats.

Christian Louboutin Ambertina Bejeweled Sandal, $2395. I think I’ve shown these on the site before, and I think they would look really good in photos.  I cannot imagine I would be traveling anywhere whilst wearing these shoes.  These are shoes that get put on for photos and then removed – they would end up as art on a shelf in my house.

YSL Iconic Platform Sandal, $760. If you subtract the platform height, the heel is only 3 inches, which is totally doable.  These shoes are fabulous but feel like they aren’t quite “Vegas” enough for this situation.

Tabitha Simmons Cutout Lizard Ankle-Wrap Sandal, $1795. These are not friendly to those who don’t eat animal products because these are fully lizard shoes.  The heel is almost 5 inches but is more substantial, which probably means I’d be able to walk in them for a while.  The only thing though is that in comparison to the other shoes, they aren’t nearly as bright.  These strike me more as shoes to wear in New York in the fall with some fabulous tights.  It’s a specific feeling for me.

More potential Vegas wedding shoes coming soon!

Monster Giuseppe Heel – That’s The Monster Shoe

by Jamie Sanford on January 7, 2011

So, like many others, I’m really enjoying the new Kanye West album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.

My favorite track is “Monster” which features Bon Iver, Rick Ross, Jay-Z, and one of my new favorite ladies, Nicki Minaj.  It is Nicki who sings about the “monster shoe,” at about 4:03 in the video.

(Please note that this song has language that might be offensive and is NSFW – and the images, especially those of Nicki that are shown as the song is playing, can also be construed as NSFW.)

So let’s talk about the Giuseppe heels, shall we?  All available from Zappos.com, which has a great collection of heels by GZ and many other fabulous designers.

I need to find more songs that reference designers so I can turn those lyrics into blog posts!
