A Night at the Fair | In My Travels

I love the fair. The sights and sounds, the weird food choices, the questionable rides, it’s all part of the magic. It’s even better when the fair is in your town! This year, we went to the fair on a weeknight (which felt strange) with David and Brian. It was Brian’s first time at the Meadowlands Fair!

First stop, snacks! We ended up not getting any of these. We have a system, and it generally begins with a corn dog. I almost NEVER want a hot dog, but I can’t resist a corn dog at the fair.

Hi Brian!

The light was amazing as the sun was setting.

Look at the light! There are benefits to going to the fair while it is still light out!

Always, a stop is required for meat on a stick for Will.

I interrupted him for this photo.

I really appreciate and enjoy the fonts and design on the food stands.

I refuse to ride these swings. We left the rides mostly to David and Brian, but I did join them for an AMAZING turn on the Tilt-A-Whirl.

Another successful trip to the fair. Now to look forward to the more traditional (meaning a mix of carnival elements and farm animal showcases) fair in a few weeks.

Instagram Roundup #51

by Jamie Sanford on August 7, 2013

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

Back to the showroom!

Did my own maintenance in the office.

This was open at 8:15am.

Working on making some shelf space in the office. Found these Mac Life magazines from 2007-2009.

Went through some of the genealogy stuff, it’s going to take a long time to get this together.

Tried and loved (naturally) this A England Fated Prince.

We did 2 days of Noritake photoshoots. I’m really excited to see the final products! (If you’re wondering, this is Sonnet in Blue.)

Throwback Thursday had me posting this picture of me and my brother Pete, from back in April. This is a good representation of our relationship, in the best way possible. I love Pete, he’s the best.

More office finds!

Stayed up late on Friday to watch Nine Inch Nails at Lollapalooza. It was amazing, I am SO excited for the NY/NJ shows in October.

Went to the NJ State Fair on Saturday with Tiffany and John. Checked out some baby lemurs.

Did I mention it was raining at the fair? Luckily it didn’t last too long, but it made for this creepy photo.

I wore my Doc Martens that I bought in 1994 to the fair, because I ruined a previous favorite pair of Vans in the mud once. I knew the Docs would stand up to the weather. However, I think I chose the wrong socks or something, because my heels were seriously blistered at the end of the day.

There are sheep competitions at the fair. They are not unlike dog shows. The sheep are transported to the fair before the shearing of their wool. To keep them looking beautiful between shearing and showing, they get these little outfits. This sheep was definitely looking at me funny.

Blue skies, and the sun, showed up later in the day.

I am pale, and don’t really dig the sun, so I went ahead and took the umbrella back out to keep myself from burning. Excuse the frizz!

One of the best fair moments was being inches away from this stunning horse. I didn’t appear to be allowed to touch it, but it seemed to tolerate my staring and taking a picture.

2012: The Year in Instagram (Q2)

by Jamie Sanford on December 29, 2012

Here are all of the other Instagram Roundups!

April

Nail polish continued to be dangerous, especially in large groups like this one.

There were a slew of polka dot manicures after I bought nail art pens.

We photographed a local brush fire that month too. My photos are documented here.

Noritake’s traditional dinner at the Nippon Club during the Tabletop Market.

I found out in April that I’m descended from a witch, and went to Milford in Connecticut, because my Sanford line started in the US there. I took this picture of the memorial bridge noting my 8th great-grandfather and great-grandmother were town founders. The name misspelling is unfortunate but still, I love it.

Here’s me with my cousin Andrew’s grave. His parents were accused of witchcraft, and his mother was hanged.

The whole reason we went to CT was so that Will could receive his Christmas gift. He got to drive a steam train!

After the train, we went to the Mystic Aquarium, and I fell in love with the beluga whales.

Back home, back to work, more pictures of the Flatiron Building.

May

We went to the New York Gem and Fossil show in May. Having been obsessed with sarcosuchus, I was super excited to see a skull replica.

I was most impressed with my ability to get this close to the ATM without hitting it.

Traveling again – here we are on a plane to Florida in May.

Short but sweet was a trip to the Ringling Museum in Sarasota, FL.

I have to go to Publix whenever I am in Florida. I love it.

A beautiful stop at the Sunshine Skyway pier while heading back to Mom and Dad’s house.

Later in the week, I had the AMAZING experience of feeding Randall the giraffe at the Lowry Park Zoo. It was one of the best things I’ve ever done.

I also got a tattoo while in Florida. I haven’t written about it yet, but I’ve just had more work done to it.

June

Documented an INSANE heat wave.

Closing out the month was a trip to the carnival in the Meadowlands parking lot. It was already halfway through 2012.
