The shackles of the DVR.

Story on about “TiVo Guilt”

I think it’s been a year or so since we got the new cable box with the DVR included, and at first it was so exciting! I got to set all of the shows that I can’t watch while at work or whatever to record and then watch them later!

It took a while before I realized that I was ruled by the DVR.  I spent SO MUCH TIME watching television because it was there and I had so many things to watch, that all of a sudden I was behind on things.  Recently I had a huge DVR cleanout, and things are much better without that little reminder that your hard drive is 45% full of things YOU said that YOU wanted to watch.

I don’t need a therapist for it though, as suggested in the article.  Mostly I just needed to open my eyes to something that wasn’t my television.
