(Source) I am looking forward to Zoolander 2.

We were waiting for someone to talk to Trent Reznor about the passing of David Bowie, and Rolling Stone checked in with him. It’s honest and touching.

This story from Consequence of Sound on Labyrinth and how Bowie’s portrayal of Jareth was a sexual awakening for many kids in the 80s is wonderful. Me and many of my friends were enamored with this character.

Speaking of Bowie – watch him and Trent Reznor performing “Hurt” together in 1995. Get ready to feel feelings!

David Bowie, 1947-2016

by Jamie Sanford on January 11, 2016

(Credit to the artist, Helen Green.)

Will and I spent some time this weekend watching a David Bowie video retrospective, on TV to celebrate the release of his new album. To hear about his passing this morning was shocking and sad.

I have very specific memories of him in Labyrinth, I think a lot of people in my age group felt their first pangs of sexual attraction and awakening seeing Bowie as Jareth – I’ve seen more admissions of this on social media today than I expected, and it delights me.

I explored Bowie over the years, and learning more about his mastery of waving the freak flag made me love him that much more. Being a slightly weird kid, a theatrical kid, he is an icon to be revered for naming it and claiming it.

He is also one of Trent Reznor’s biggest influences, a fact I cannot ignore, as the music of Nine Inch Nails has contributed so greatly to my life.

Rest in peace, starman.

Jewelry from Electric Lemonade Shop

by Jamie Sanford on July 29, 2013

I love some statement jewelry, particularly necklaces. I tend to lean towards things with antlers, but I am interested in anything that strikes my fancy. Electric Lemonade Shop has a super fun selection of jewelry – here are a few of my favorites.

Sideshow Deer Necklace, $128.

Glam Rock earrings, which I’m sure don’t say Bowie because his image was not used intentionally…$32.

How creepy/awesome is this? Dental Record necklace, $140.

Another identity crisis here, because a certain Grace Jones comes to mind…Glamazon Earrings, $32.

This is cute AND functional, since it actually works as a little knife! Danger Dagger Knife Necklace, $34.

100 Films in 2011: Zoolander

by Jamie Sanford on February 18, 2011

Covering a movie that I’ve seen way too many times.

12. Zoolander (Not available for streaming on Netflix Instant Watch)

Here’s the trailer for this fine piece of filmmaking.

[youtube vRJV44tdhkI]

I really love this movie.  It’s on my list of movies that I will definitely watch if I catch it on TV, and I already own the DVD.  However, I couldn’t pass up the chance to feature it here.

David Bowie makes an appearance which automatically raises the awesome factor on this movie.

There’s a scene featuring the music of Wham! and a strange concoction known as “orange mocha frappuchinos.”

Will Ferrell as Mugatu and this dog are likely my favorite part of the movie.  Also, I want a sweater like that that says JAMIE across the chest.

Or I want to just be as hot as Milla Jovovich as Katinka Ingabogovinan…na.

Owen’s Wilson‘s arms are the most male model-like thing happening in this movie.

I can highly recommend this movie for watching and purchasing, because it is incredibly quotable and fun.  If you enjoy other movies with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson and Will Ferrell, this one should be added to your collection.

Blue Steel is so much better than the Zoolander DVD cover.

The Zoolander Special Edition DVD is available from Amazon for $8.99.
