Awesome VHS Laptop Skin

by Jamie Sanford on October 27, 2010

Continuing on a bit of a retro 80s vibe after the Back to the Future post, this laptop skin from Infectious is amazing!

Who didn’t have this exact scene happening in their video storage area in the 80s?  I was at my parents’ house a few weeks ago and I saw a few tapes labeled just like this!

For anyone not familiar with laptop skins, they are like Colorforms, another 80s classic.  The skin is like a window cling that sticks to the outside of your laptop.  They are really easy to apply and offer great customization without the crazy expense that you can get from buying a computer with a skin already on it.

The VHS tape skins range in price from $19.99 to $29.99 depending on laptop size.

Guest Post: WeSC Les Bras Duvet Cover Set.

by Jamie Sanford on July 30, 2010

(Today’s guest post was contributed by Kelly Kreth. I “met” Kelly online around 10 years ago, and since then she’s made me jewelry, she’s been the subject of one of the best photos I’ve ever taken, and thoroughly kicked my ass in Facebook Scrabble.  Check out her new blog which explores optimism and pessimism with great humor and frankness.)

I like home decor with a sense of humor. So when I saw this duvet set that has not only style and substance, but also a keen sense of humor, I immediately coveted the cover. The WeSC Dans Les Bras Duvet Cover Set is made of organic cotton, is machine washable, fits any size comforter and comes with two pillow shams. In simple, yet chic, black and white, it features a drawing of a woman at rest laying face down on a bed. The pillowcases add an extra wink to the duvet’s nod by giving the cheeky message: “Das Les Bans De Morphée ” which means “In the arms of Morpheus (referring to sleep). Quelle witty!

Clearly the French are better in bed–Ooohhlala!

Description:

Designed for WeSc by the ever-inspirational graffiti artist, Mode 2 – who focuses much of his attention on the female shape in many forms – this duvet cover set features a sketched design at the front of the duvet cover and a sleepy French message at the pillowcases.

Pre-order for its August 8th arrival. It is only available online and is priced at $148.

Oprah’s Big Deal issue of her magazine hit the stands for August 2010 and she is wearing the Coliseum earrings from Lia Sophia.

You can’t get a good look at the Lia Sophia earrings, which Oprah liked so much that she purchased them.

From the Lia Sophia website:

Rockstar flamboyance in over-sized hoops. A contemporary cutout honeycomb design of matte gold makes an eye-popping statement guaranteed to take your charisma off the charts. Snap bar closure.

The earrings that Oprah is wearing on the cover of the magazine are $44 from Lia Sophia, but will be retired at the end of July. Based on the limited time frame plus the Oprah connection, I think they might sell out.

Book Cover T-Shirts

by Jamie Sanford on February 6, 2010

Today’s wishlist item is the Brave New World Men’s T-shirt by Out of Print Clothing.

This t-shirt is $28.  I am excited to see that Women’s T-shirts will be introduced next month.  The best part of buying this shirt or any other from Out of Print is that for every shirt purchased, a book is donated to someone without access to books through their partner, Books for Africa.
